One on One with Ntropmedia

I decided to talk with Nathan from Ntropmedia recently about his return to FTA as well as get a few words from him about some the changes implemented since the last time he was here. The interview is below the break.

1. What made you decide to make a return to Fantasy TV America?

I was invited to the FTA chat by Liberty New York and Synergy Media, since I still talk to them. I was originally gonna go in as Ntropmedia and make everyone think I was gonna return, but I found out Potomac Media Group was selling off stations including WNEC/WFHR, so I knew I had to. Liberty NY kinda wanted me to, and I’m glad he did.

2. As you well know, a lot of changes have been made to FTA since the last time you participated. Which of those changes, if any, do you like?

I’m actually not aware of all of the changes. I believe the user syndication has been brought back well, with better rules and regulations than before, even though I won’t be participating in it.

3. Which changes at FTA, if any, do you dislike?

It appears that the callsign switching rule has been loosened. I liked the rule because it helped keep a station’s name over time, now that I’m back I recognize only a handful of stations from when I was here before.

4. What other changes would you suggest be made at FTA to make it more user-friendly?

Everything looks pretty good as it is.

5. What can we expect from your company now that you have become a regular participant again at FTA?

An update to WNEC and WFHR’s image (new graphics, set refresh). I plan on expanding regionally in the future, to medium to small-sized markets in the Mid-Atlantic and Southeast. I do not plan on reopening my graphic design division at all.

6. What advice would you give new companies that want to participate at FTA?

Use correct spelling and grammar in your posts, it makes a good first impression. Start out small with one or two stations, preferably in markets with little competition… it’ll take a long time to become a broadcast conglomerate on FTA. Also, save your money… you don’t need new graphics for your stations every two months. One of my former stations, WPID in Charlotte, has had the same graphics package since July 2005 and it still looks pretty good (even though I think it’s a little outdated for being on FTA). WNEC has had theirs since December 2005. I think promotion is much stronger than having a fresh new 2-month-old look.
